Are You the New Christmas Señora? Here’s How to Not Stress About it

Thank you for reading our newsletter where 50K Señoras learn how to live their best life. Visit Senoraera.com for more Señora content and don’t forget to share with your amigas.

Señora Well-Being

Christina and I have turned into the holiday señora hosts, me mainly because everyone loves coming to my relaxing ranchito in the campo boonies.

But it can be a little overwhelming if you’re the family’s new señora host and trust me everyone is feeling the same way. You don’t know what food people will like, and you want your guests to be extra cozy.

Here are 5 simple ideas for how to minimize stress as a first time holiday señora:

Delegate: When you feel overwhelmed, text your hermanas or tias and give them something to bring or give your partner a last minute shopping list.

Bake in moments of reset: During the lead up to the big day, schedule 10 minutes each hour to step outside, have some tecito, lower those shoulders, and breathe in and out.

Tone it down: Manage your expectations of what you’re doing. If it’s stressing you out, you may be doing too much.

Break the rules: Who says you have to have tamales a particular way? Or that you have to bake a pie from scratch? Don’t worry about it, your family will still have a blast.

Do a walk through: Nothing feels better than making sure you have all of the prep work ready the day before. Do a trial run in your head, and if you’re missing anything, go shopping tonight during the after lunch siestita.

Ranchito Vibes

Need some last minute meal ideas that will take you 5-10 minutes? I love Christmas salmon. It’s easy, and takes minutes in the oven. Just don’t overcook it.

Try this really easy side: Green bean bundles.

Or this chipotle and rosemary toasted nuts to serve as an appetizer

You can also try this Puerto Rican potato salad, or Chilean ensalada de papas, which is even easier.

This tomato recipe from Chile is freaking brilliant, because it’s super easy, needs just two ingredients, and will take you 5 minutes to make.

Or this ensalada de yogurt and salmon that’s creamy and delicious.

For something heartier, just fry some shrimp, or simply grill some scallops, hermana!
