Lately we have been making our own peanut, almond and cashew butter at señora era HQ – and this week we’re realizing how beneficial making your own snacks from scratch really is, because there’s just been a major peanut butter recall. The FDA has officially classified a major peanut butter recall as Class II, affecting more than 22,000 cases of product distributed across 40 states. What Happened?
Los Angeles-based Ventura Foods LLC voluntarily initiated the recall on April 30, 2025, after discovering fragments of blue plastic in a production filter during manufacturing. On February 12, 2026, the FDA officially upgraded the recall to Class II status — meaning consuming the product could cause temporary or reversible health problems, though the risk of serious harm is considered low. As of mid-February 2026, no injuries or illnesses have been reported.Which Products Are Affected?
The recalled items are single-serve portion packs of creamy peanut butter and peanut butter-and-jelly combinations. These are typically found in restaurants, schools, hospitals, hotel breakfasts, and cafeterias — not the standard jars sold in grocery stores. Affected brands include:- Flavor Fresh Peanut Butter
- Sysco House Recipe Creamy Peanut Butter
- Katy’s Kitchen Smooth Peanut Butter
- US Foods, DYMA Brands, and Gordon Food Service (private label)
- Twin packs with strawberry jam or grape jelly (1 oz and 1.12 oz cups)
Which States Are Affected?
Products were distributed to 40 states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin. The 10 states not affected are: Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Kentucky, Maine, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming. What Should You Do?
- Do not eat the product if you think it may be affected.
- Throw it away or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
- If you feel unwell after consuming it, contact a healthcare provider.
- Check lot numbers against the official FDA Enforcement Report at fda.gov.

- Sysco House Recipe Creamy Peanut Butter
- Katy’s Kitchen Smooth Peanut Butter
- US Foods, DYMA Brands y Gordon Food Service (etiqueta privada)
Los productos fueron distribuidos en 40 estados: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington y Wisconsin.
