Be a “Cool Señora”: How to Embrace Your ‘Señora Era’ with Style and Grace

Admit it, the first time you heard the term “señora era” you thought about your grandmother, baking in the kitchen, taking it easy on her chair on the porch. In fact, when I shot a TV segment over at LATV about our book, I had to explain to the hosts that it wasn’t about staying home on Friday nights, and laying around all day in your garden. It’s also not about quitting your job! It’s so much more.
Though we all love our grandmas, this is a half-truth: having a calm life makes up only part of entering your señora years. There’s a new more modern definition of becoming a señora that’s a lot more fun – and that you’ll probably relate to a whole lot more.
For example, did you know that you can be stylish, and be in your señora years?
Here are some ideas for having your best era yet:

Step One:
Choose a beautiful and luxurious alpaca throw to wear when it’s chilly out. It’s even more special if you can find out that was made in South America like this one (made in Peru). Pair it with a nice pair of jeans
Step Two:
Pair with a cool pair of flaired, slouchy jeans, which are now back in style thanks to Kendrick Lamar at the SuperBowl.
Step Three:
Add on a special touch with these UGG Women’s Funkette slippers.
Step Four:
Grab yourself the coolest cookbook you’ll find for your señora era baking: Cooking con Claudia, where this Mexican-American YouTube viral star shares 100 recipes with you from her family.
Step Five:
Cozy up with One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabrial Garcia Marquez, or The House of the Spirits, Isabell Allende’s groundbreaking book. Or if you want something more modern, and more “self-helpy” try the book everyone’s talking about – the Latina Anti-Diet.
Step Six:
Sit back and do an LED light mask treatment at home with this celeb-worthy Omnilux mask (no we are not their partner but we want to be!)
Step Seven:
Grab some cute materials and get right down to the garden to start preparing your garden boxes for spring. There are even tools to help you plant seeds properly and a kit with all of the herbs you’ll ever need.
So get out there, and have the best señora season you’ll ever have.
