Why Your Brows Aren’t Growing More & What’s Next For Tik Tok Brows
Even if you don’t pay too much attention a tus cejas (me included pre-2021), you probably noticed some wild eyebrow experiments and trends last year. From your favorite influencer’s fluffy eyebrows to Bella Hadid’s “alien brows” and Lizzo’s bleached ones, all of this brow magia might be making you want to spruce up your brow game in 2022.
So what’s all the fuss? Tik Tok “fluffy brows” involve combing your brows “up” and using an eyebrow gel to set them in place. Ideally the gel will also have some color or you can fill in specific areas with brown liner. Then you might dab on concealer to highlight the look.
Or you may want to go for a procedure like microblading, which is tattooing tiny hairs with a needle to give the appearance of more brows. If you’re not quite ready for that step, you’ll want to look at “lamination” which is straightening the brows and then lifting them upwards with a chemical solution, and adding color. I did the latter, and I was extremely happy. The only downside is that it wears out within a couple of months and so you have to do it over again. If you’re looking for a more semi-permanent solution, then microblading es para ti.
So what’s your game plan? We caught up with one of our favorite SoCal eyebrow pros, Misha Fristed over at Beauty By Misha, who clued us in to what’s next in eyebrows, what you should be looking out for, what’s up with your brows not growing after a certain age, and much more.
What eyebrow trends do you see reaching their peak in 2022?
In 2022 most of us have stopped over plucking and a new generation that doesn’t even understand what our poor brows went through before! This year I definitely see everyone embracing a more “natural brow”
Are “tik tok brows”‘out? Or are they just starting to become popular?

I totally believe tik tok brows are here to stay for this year! It’s becoming more popular with everyone. Full, less structure, super fluffy.
Why do brows stop growing at a certain point in a woman’s life?
There are unfortunately so many reasons we loose hair as we age. As we age everyone’s hair follicles slowly diminish, for some more so than others. Hormonal imbalances, auto immune diseases and vitamin deficiencies all contribute to hair loss as well. So after you have checked in with your doctor about any health issues to see if that’s the cause. You ask your doctor for a prescription for Latisse. We have been using it for eyelashes for over a decade and new research shows it works well on our brows too.
What are your go to eyebrow products?
Brow gel is my everyday go to. I use one with a tint because I have dark brows with some sparse areas.
