Lula Flores: Vamigas Latinx Artist of the Month
“Art is perception, intuition, a state of mind with convictions, which will all reflect art back to the individual as a representation of their own inner form.”
“Art doesn’t have to function in life or have any purpose. You simply have to relate to Art.”
— Lula Flores
Latinx artists have always been everywhere, but only in the last decade has there been a concerted effort to highlight and celebrate their unique talents. The famed El Museo del Barrio in New York, for example, has just launched “Estamos Bien” after a year of being shut down during the pandemic. It’s a survey of 42 Latinx artists from across the country, led by curator Rodrigo Moura, Susanna V. Temkin and Elia Alba.
One of our favorite California artists we are also lucky to call a lifelong friend is Lula Flores, an artist who also immigrated from Chile to Los Angeles. She has a gorgeous studio in LA where she creates figural art pieces. Figural art can use the human form to show powerful emotions and tell stories.
Lula has had her artwork sold in influential galleries as well as to private collectors (and has some Hollywood collectors too). You can find some of her pieces over on Etsy or Instagram to start your own private collection.
