Growing up with three older brothers meant I didn’t always get much say in what we watched, especially around Christmas. And every single year, without fail, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation was on the television. I remember being genuinely creeped out by parts of it as a little girl. Between the chaos, the characters, and the absolute insanity of the Griswold family, I wasn’t entirely sure what was supposed to be so funny.

But somewhere along the way, I grew up and realized it was absolute hilarity. Now I can’t wait to watch it every Christmas. The older I get, the funnier it becomes, probably because I’ve come to appreciate just how wonderfully ridiculous family holidays can be.

And of course, we have an ongoing family joke about who the real Cousin Eddie is in our family. I’m sure yours has one, too. We all know exactly who we’re talking about, but we’ll never tell. Haha!

And one more reason I have a soft spot for this movie? My middle name is Margaux, and it’s also my daughter’s name. So naturally, I’ve always had a special appreciation for Todd and Margo, the Griswolds’ wonderfully annoyed next-door neighbors. Every time Clark’s Christmas chaos spills over into their perfectly peaceful lives, I can’t help but laugh.

Which brings me to Pottery Barn’s National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation collection. It’s the perfect little tribute to a movie that has somehow become even more entertaining with every passing year. Whether you’re a lifelong Griswold fan, have your own family Cousin Eddie, or just love a little nostalgia mixed into your Christmas decorating, this collection is full of holiday fun.

And if anyone asks who Cousin Eddie is in our family, I’m taking that secret to the grave.
