It’s Your Time to Shine
It’s Señora Thanksgiving! I’ve never been big on celebrating Thanksgiving because I wasn’t used to it growing up in Chile. Christina on the other hand is more traditional in her señora approach. I like to mix things up a little bit, add some pan amasado, maybe an ensalada de tomate, and here is a good spin on Green Bean casserole (because I can’t stand the traditional version).
This year, I’m doing alternative green bean casserole, turkey, salmon, mashed potatoes, wild rice pilaf from ‘The Sioux Chef’ Sean Sherman, some pie, and Famous Puddin (the most amazing desert I have ever had).
What are your plans?
We asked our community if they were ready to take over señora Thanksgiving and most of us weren’t. Some of us hate to cook! But we got some good tips: some amigas say their partners are taking care of it, some are ordering from HEB or Whole Foods or Northgate Market, some are making their first turkey this year, some are only taking care of the salad or the desert. Others are breaking out the pernil style pavo or are literal chefs themselves!
