Botanical Tea Recipes: Té de albahaca sagrada

Tulsi Sunrise Tea – Té de Albahaca Sagrada

Tulsi and turmeric pair like a dream and are combined with other aromatic herbs in this sunrise tea blend for a tasty way to start the day (with an added anti-inflammatory boost from turmeric and ginger). Brew up a cup of this delightful morning tea and go watch the sun rise! Yield: One 8 fl oz serving. 

Ingredients

1 tsp tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum) aerial parts
1 tsp lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) leaf
½ tsp orange (Citrus spp.) peel
¼ tsp turmeric (Curcuma longa) rhizome, powdered
8 fl oz (240 mL) water
½ tsp (2.5 mL) lemon juice, freshly squeezed
Honey (or sweetener of choice) to taste (optional)

Directions

Place herbs in a heat-safe mug or container.

  • Pour freshly boiled hot water over the herbs, cover, and steep for 10 minutes.
  • Strain the infusion through a tea strainer and compost or discard plant material.
  • Add lemon juice, and sweeten with honey, if desired.
  • Sip and enjoy!

Drink one serving in the morning.
